Ron McMillan is a writer, author and former photojournalist who has spent most of the last thirty years in Asia. His travel narrative Between Weathers, Travels in 21st Century Shetland (Sandstone Press, 2008), was long-listed for the prestigious Saltire Society Literary Award. His debut crime thriller Yin Yang Tattoo (Sandstone Press, 2010) was published to positive reviews despite getting Ron banned from Hong Kong International Literary Festival.
During a decade based in Hong Kong, photography assignments took him everywhere from Afghanistan to North Korea, as well as on almost fifty visits to mainland China. His photographs appeared in international publications throughout Asia, North America and Europe, including on the covers of TIME, Newsweek, BusinessWeek and L’Express Magazines. He has written for travel magazines, newspapers and business titles in Asia and Europe since the late 1980s.

Currently resident in the countryside outside Chiang Mai, north Thailand, Ron is currently promoting Bangkok Cowboy, the first in the Mason Dixie series, and writing the followup Bangkok Belle.
